Stefan Bandlitz is an optometrist, graduated with a Master of Science in Clinical Optometry from Pennsylvania College of Optometry, Salus University, Philadelphia, USA and received his PhD from the School of Optometry and Vision Science at Cardiff University in Wales, UK. He is Head of School at the Höhere Fachschule für Augenoptik und Optometrie (HFAK) in Cologne, Germany. His current teaching areas include contact lens, clinical optometry, and statistics. He is a scientific advisor for the Kuratorium Gutes Sehen e.V. and for the scientific committee of the Zentralverband der Augenoptiker und Optometristen. Mr. Bandlitz is an examiner for the European Diploma in Optometry (ECOO) and for the advanced training qualification leading to Optometrist (ZVA, HWK).

In addition, Dr. Bandlitz is a research fellow at the School of Life & Health Sciences, Aston University, Birmingham, UK. He is a Fellow of the College of Optometrists (FCOptom), the International Association of Contact Lens Educators (FIACLE) and the British Contact Lens Association (FBCLA). Bandlitz is a well-known speaker at national and international congresses and author and co-author of approximately 80 publications (including peer-reviewed, textbook chapters, non-peer-reviewed). He is a reviewer for numerous scientific journals including Optometry & Vision Science (OVS), Investigative Ophthalmology & Visual Science (IOVS), Contact Lens and Anterior Eye (CLAE), Biomedical Optics Express (OSA), and Acta Ophthalmologica. His current research areas include contact lenses, anterior eye anatomy and physiology, anterior segment imaging, and ocular surface and tear film changes.
