Medical studies in Leipzig and Vienna. 1997-2000 Postdoctoral fellowship at the Schepens Eye Research Institute/Department of Ophthalmology/Harvard Medical School in Boston, USA.

2001-2004 residency at the University Hospital, Department of Ophthalmology, Charité in Berlin. Since 2004 specialist, then senior physician at the Department of Ophthalmology, Helios Klinikum Erfurt.

Since 2011 at the Ernst Abbe University of Applied Sciences Jena. 2014 appointment as full professor for clinical optometry.

Since March 2018 Chief Physician at the Eye Clinic of the REGIOMED Reha clinic Masserberg and from September 2020 Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at the Medical Faculty of the University Split, Croatia.

Research interests: Diseases of the anterior segment of the eye (esp. dry eye syndrome), fs-laser surgery of the cornea for myopia and hyperopia, accommodation, presbyopia and cataract.
