Stephan Reiss

Stephan Reiss is a Professor of Ophthalmic Optics and Optometry at the Beuth University of Applied Sciences in Berlin, Germany. His teaching and research focus is on technical and experimental optics, spectacle lens optics and laser applications.

In 1988 he completed his college training as a state-certified ophthalmic optician and master opthalmic optician at Herman Pistor Technical College in Jena, Germany before graduating as engineer in ophthalmic optics from Jena University of Applied Sciences in 2004. From 2004 to 2007 he studied laser and opto-technologies at Jena University of Applied Sciences and graduated with a Master of Engineering. In 2013 Stephan Reis received his doctoral degree (Dr. rer. nat.) from the University of Rostock with a disssertation on 'the non-invasive determination of tissue properties of ocular lenses using Brillouin spectrometry'. Stephan Reiss is a member of Deutsche Ophthalmologische Gesellschaft and a member of the Scientific Advisory Council of the International Association for Binocular Vision.
