At the beginning of 2018, the VDCO launched the VDCO Young, a program for students and pupils at universities and master schools.

What are edu points?

Edu-Points can be purchased at VDCO training events. An edu-Point corresponds to a value of 10 euros. Every purchased edu-Point is made available to the students of the VDCO Young.

Who is VDCO Young

All student members of the VDCO are collectively referred to as VDCO Young. One or two students each from Munich University, Brandenburg University, Berlin University of Applied Sciences (BHT), Aalen University, Ernst Abbe University Jena and Cologne University of Applied Sciences volunteer in the VDCO. The student delegates represent their university, exchange information regularly in meetings and organize joint events for the VDCO Young.

How do the edu points benefit the students?

The OptoMEETry is financed with the money from the edu-Points. The OptoMEETry is an annual meeting that takes place for the VDCO Young. At the meeting, students from various universities and master schools will discuss the future of optometry and look for solutions that can be implemented together with the VDCO. In addition to the edu points, the project is supported by the universities. Specifically, the following are financed:

  • Food and drinks for the day
  • Travel expenses for student representatives
  • Overnight stays for participants
  • share as many travel expenses as possible
  • Working materials

In addition to the professional discussion and further education, the regular meetings create a network among the young optometrists, which deals with a variety of questions about the future of optometry
