Optometry & Contact Lens Journal (OCL) was first published on July 1, 2021, and has since established itself as a prestigious journal for the field of eye and vision care both nationally and internationally.

OCL is proud to offer our readers and authors evidence-based information with high-quality scientific and clinical content. The authors of the manuscripts submitted to date come from Germany, the UK, Canada, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Mexico, Namibia, Austria, Switzerland, Spain, Slovenia, and the US.
Starting in 2026, the journal will change its publication schedule: instead of ten issues per year, OCL will now be published quarterly.
This change will allow for greater focus on content, clearer prioritization, and further improvement of the scientific and clinical quality of each issue. The publication dates for the quarterly issues are as follows:

1st issue: February 1
2nd issue: May 1
3rd issue: August 1
4th issue: November 1

Important: The total number of pages per year will not change. The content will be more focused, so that each issue will contain more clinical and scientific topics.

For readers, this means that each quarterly issue offers even more focused access to clinically relevant and scientifically based publications. The thematic concentration allows for a quicker overview of current developments and evidence-based research results.

The new structure offers a significant advantage for authors: articles appear in larger, thematically focused issues and therefore reach clinicians and scientists in a better -focused approach; published works receive even greater visibility.
This new structure will strengthen the journal in the long term as a reliable source of information and as the official publication of the Association of German Contact Lens Specialists and Optometrists (VDCO).

I would like to thank all our readers, authors, and reviewers for their trust, their contributions, and their loyalty, and we look forward to taking this next step together.
