Christian Kempgens qualified as an optometrist in Germany in 2002, writing his final year thesis at Pacific University, Oregon. He worked in a specialty contact lens practice in Bremen, Germany, before obtaining a PhD in Vision Sciences at Glasgow Caledonian University, Scotland. From 2008 to 2016, he taught contact lens studies and diagnostic techniques within the course of optometry at the Fielmann Akademie Schloss Plön and the University of Applied Sciences, Lübeck, Germany. In September 2016 Christian was appointed Professor for contact optics and optometry at Beuth University of Applied Sciences in Berlin and teaches contact lens studies in the university’s BSc and MSc courses of optometry.
